Exceptionally valorous actions, but not deserving of a Medal of Honor, may be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. The Distinguished Service Cross may only be earned in an organized scenario with very rare and extraordinary exceptions.

This is the highest award the 31st Fighter Group has ever given out. To receive this award it is necessary to fly and survive all 5 frames of an S3 event, and score at least 5 enemy a/c killed. 2nd LT Scarpo is awarded this medal for destroying 8 enemy a/c without loss of a/c in 5 frames.
