Air Force Cross

Exceptionally valorous actions, but not deserving of a Medal of Honor, may be awarded the Air Force Cross. The Air Force may only be earned in an organized scenario with very rare and extraordinary exceptions.

This is the highest award the 31st Fighter Group has ever given out. To receive this award it is necessary to fly and survive all 5 frames of an S3 event, and score at least 5 enemy a/c killed. *Note, Since Spring 2004, it is required to shoot down 10 enemy a/c to receive this award.

1st LT. Vonmac is awarded this medal for his amazing achievement during the Malta Blitz. During this Battle, 9 enemy aircraft fell to the guns of Vonmac.
